Donald Ferdinand Schwegman, age 85, died on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Grand Lake Villa in Grove, Oklahoma. Donald was the son of Hubert F. and Elfreda (Gales) Schwegman, he was born on July 15, 1926 in Okarche, Oklahoma. Donald proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, then with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Johnston in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania in May of 1959. Later in life, Donald graduated from Western Montana College with a bachelor's degree and taught as a Junior High Industrial Arts Teacher. Donald relocated to Grove in 1989; he was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church. Donald loved working with his hands, he had a lot of hobbies including, fishing, making knives, building canoes, leather work, welding, picking berries and vegetable gardening just to name a few. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one son Michael Roy Schwegman, two sisters Ione and Delores; three brothers Bennie, Al and Larry. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Schwegman of the home, one son Jon David Schwegman and his wife Lynette, two daughters Barbara Anne Townsell and her husband Tommy, and Donna Jean Wells, two brothers Jerry Schwegman and Wayne Schwegman and one sister Rose Harmon. Donald was blessed with three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial Services will be held at2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Grove, Oklahoma.
