Grove - George Edward Mundhenke, age 83, died on Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma. George was born on July 5, 1925 to Chester Faye and Ivy Pearl (Ruff) Mundhenke in Fillmore Illinois. George proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Radioman Second Class. George had a Bachelors science degree in engineering. George relocated to the Grove area in 1989 from Morton Texas. He was a member of the First United Methodist church of Grove, Oklahoma. George was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Green country square Dancers, Past Reserve Deputy Sherriff in Morton, Texas and Cochran County Texas, Grove Integris General Hospital Volunteer, he delivered meals on wheels, 10 year volunteer for Camp Bandage, Missions Volunteer with the Methodist church in Mexico for seven different years, volunteered to help with the flood victims down by Huston and San Antonio Texas, member of the Thomas Sunday School class, past Boy Scout leader in Glasco, Kansas, past president of the Lions Club in Morton Texas, was a private pilot that loved to fly and was an avid golfer. George was preceded in death by his parents, one son James Edward Mundhenke in October of 2000, two Brothers Wayne Mundhenke and Lloyd Mundhenke, two great granddaughters; Claire and Marissa Adkins. George is survived by his wife Betty Jean (Smith) Mundhenke of the home, one daughter Barbara Adkins of Joplin Missouri, four grandchildren Amee Adkins, Cory Gene Adkins, Malea Herring, and Alisa Preece, and eight great-granchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2008 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm., family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel at 107 South Broadway in Grove, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Grove, Oklahoma, with Reverend Randy Hamill officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be the Grove Masonic Lodge. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill Price, Gerry Ransbottom, George Dorris, Art Geary Ben Ballard, Tom Lester and Bob Fidler. Interment will be held immediately following at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma. Memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Grove, Oklahoma.
