Jimmy Doyle Samples, age 71, passed away on October 3, 2013 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Jimmy was the son of Alfred William and Ettie Melinda (Kilmer) Samples. He was born on February 3, 1942 in Abilene, Texas. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Marines. He worked for the State of Texas as a Comptroller. He loved music and playing his guitar, genealogy, fishing, Mexican food, and computers. Jimmy was a master of all trades and just loved to tinker around. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia; son Kevin DaRey Samples; brother Billy Ray Samples; sister Carolyn Sue Barr. He is survived by one brother Al "Sonny" Samples and his wife (Yvonne), six sisters Eula "Johnnie" Kernes; Patricia "Pat" Robinson, Lottie Miller; Iva Samples (Katherine Denney); Brenda Kay Bricker (Jack); Gwen Brazeal (Larry). He was blessed with two grandchildren Amanda Gail Samples and Samantha Leigh Samples and also five great grandchildren Aiden Adamez, Landen Adamez, Joseph Rodriguez, Monica Rodriguez and Iselle Rodriguez and a host of great & great-great nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Jimmy will be laid to rest at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
