Julia "Judy" Belle Bowers began her journey to heaven December 2, 2008. The stars in heaven shine brighter tonight. Judy was a devoted and loving office nurse for over 30 years for doctors Jack Irvin of Sheridan, Arkansas, David Cope and Sally Berger of Grove, Oklahoma. Judy was born May 5, 1928 to John A. and Louise Bently-Killough of Duncan, Oklahoma. Judy married the love of her life Joseph W. Bowers on November 29, 1946. They shared a long love and happiness for 50 years. Joe preceded her in death February 18, 1997. Judy was preceded in death by her parents John A. and Louise Killough, husband Joe Bowers, brother John Killough, sister Zora Cunningham, Grandchildren Marisa Fields and Yvonne Bowers. Judy's legacy continues with their children Joe and wife Joy Bowers of Tucson, Arizona, Robert and Debbie Bowers of Rogers, Arkansas, DaMaris and Mike Fields and Madeline Heffleman of Grove, Oklahoma. Judy is the beloved grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Judy's extended legacy is Carolyn and Chuck Bullock, William A. "Bill" and Charolette Killough, and sister-in law Barbara Killough all of Grove, Oklahoma. Judy was life long member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church attending Bob's Class. She had many interest in local organizations and clubs. Judy was a member of the Rainbows in Claremore, Oklahoma. She helped found a Girl Scout troop and a member of the Sheridan Golf Club in Sheridan, Arkansas, a member of the BPW and the Toast Masters of Grove in which she obtained many awards for speeches she had given. Judy helped establish the Arthritis Chapter and was a charter member of the Moose Lodge #2033 in Grove, was a member of the General Society of Mayflower descendants, and was a member of the Tuesday morning group. She enjoyed taking classes in decorating, family archives, computer exploration, traveling, sewing; she was a talented Floral Designer. A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 4, 2008, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2008 with Reverend Randy Hamill officiating. Interment will follow at Olympus Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or charity of choice. Judy's big heart, warm smile, quick wit and gentle spirit will be missed by all.
