Lon Lewis

Lon L. Lewis, age 87, died on May 27, 2013 at The Grand Lake Villa in Grove, Oklahoma. Lon was born on May 9 1926 in Grove, Oklahoma. He was the son of Henry and Mattie (Johnston) Lewis. He was united in marriage to Maxine Wilson on January 14, 1946. They moved from Grove to Benton Kansas where Lon worked in the aircraft industry until his retirement in 1986. He returned home to the Dodge community to live. He was a member of the Dodge Baptist Church. Lon was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine Lewis, infant daughter Donna Maxine, Grandson David Barnett, his parents; Henry and Mattie Lewis and three brothers; Grover, Louie and L.D. Lewis and one sister Sylvia Walls. Lon is survived by his two children Lloyd Lewis from Jay, Oklahoma and Kathryn Barnett from Grove, Oklahoma, one brother Jake Lewis from Haysville, Kansas and a sister Imogene McLaughlin from Claremore, Oklahoma. Lon was blessed with three grandsons, five granddaughters, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. A visitation for family and friend will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Ellis Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Dodge Baptist Church with Jay Lewis presiding. Lon will be laid to rest in the Sloan Cemetery, in Grove, Oklahoma.
