Grove - Vera "Billie" Seamans, age 97, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma. The daughter of George & Mildred Seamans, Vera was born on May 11, 1912 in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with her family where she eventually went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Billie retired from the telephone company in 1974 after 36 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the Communication Workers of America. Billie moved to Grove from Tulsa in 1986 to be close to family members in the area. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Mackie Seamans, four sisters Jeanette Horton, Freda Alred, Georgia Cook and Dorene Cantrell. Billie is survived by her nephews, Bobby Lee Cook, Edward Lee Horton, Bob Frank Horton, Max Ralph Horton and nieces Beverly Doyle and Helen Alred and numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma. Serving at pallbearers will be Travis Garren, Jordan Garren, Jared Garren, Cameron Wright and Doug Garren. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Cook, Bob Frank Horton, Edward Lee Horton, Max Ralph Horton, Eldo Fields and Ryken Garren. Interment will immediately follow at Olympus Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma.
